In una splendida giornata di sole  , più di un migliaio di atleti hanno partecipato la settimana scorsa alla 26^ edizione, Campionato  Cross-Country di Addis Abeba, che ha avuto luogo all’ippodromo di  Jal Meda. Una covata di nuovi talenti ha dato grande smalto a questa ultima edizione, che è stata un po’ l’anticamera per le qualificazioni del prossimo mese  ,   in vista della 38° edizione IAAF ,  campionato mondiale di corsa campestre, che si terrà in Polonia il 28 Marzo 2010.

Un numero impressionante di nuovi talenti della filiera Alfa Athletics Club , ha dominato la scena, portando sul podio 3 giovanissime atlete nella gara juniors 6K. Nella gara 12K, un altro giovane talento della medesima filiera ,  Bilusuma Sharra si è conquistato il podio più alto, davanti a tanti altri eccellenti podisti di livello mondiale.

ALFA Athletics Club è allenato da Coach Eshetu Tura, il quale è stato medagliere sui 3000 siepi ai giochi olimpici di Mosca nel 1980. Eshetu Tura per il suo impegno sociale è un personaggio amato e qualificato nel mondo dello sport. Alfa Athletics Club fa parte della società Italiana ALFA Engineering Group.

Domestic Cross-Country Season hots up in Addis.

More than one thousand athletes participated in the 26th edition of the Addis Abeba Cross-Country Championships which were staged at the Jal Meda racecourse under
a bright sunshine day last weekend . A clutch of new athletes set out their stall for the bigger national event which will take place in february at the same venue, to select the Ethiopia’s squad  for the next IAAF 38th edition World Cross-Country Championships which will be hosted in Poland, 28 March 2010.

A striking  number of athletes of  the newly established  ALFA Athletics Club , stroke exceptional results sweeping  all 3 podium places in the junior’s women 6K race.   Men’s 12K  race Bilusuma Sharra, another talented breed of Alfa, made it first, ahead of many other top notch runners.

Eshetu Tura, bronze medallist at the Moscow Summer Olympics in 1980, is head coach of Alfa Athletics Club. He’s one of the most respected and accomplished personalities in sport fields in Ethiopia. ALFA Athletics Club  is owned and managed by the Italian company ALFA Engineering Group.
